First Mexican Congress of Biophysics 2026
The First Mexican Congress of Biophysics will be a national meeting bringing together researchers, academics, students, and professionals interested in the study of biological phenomena from the perspectives of physics, mathematics, chemistry, and other related disciplines.
The main objective of the Congress will be to promote and strengthen Biophysics in Mexico by fostering the exchange of knowledge, scientific collaboration, and the training of new generations of researchers. The event will provide a space to present scientific advances, discuss current challenges, and establish connections among research groups, academic institutions, and other sectors interested in the development and application of Biophysics.
Biophysics is an interdisciplinary field that seeks to understand the fundamental mechanisms of biological systems through the principles, methods, and tools of physics and other quantitative sciences. Because of its inherently interdisciplinary nature, Biophysics encompasses the study of systems ranging from individual molecules to cells, tissues, organisms, and complex biological processes.
The main fields of knowledge encompassed by Biophysics include:
- Molecular Biophysics:
the study of the structure, dynamics, interactions, and function of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and other biomolecules.- Structural Biophysics:
the analysis of the three-dimensional structures and conformational changes of biological molecules and complexes.- Membrane Biophysics:
the study of the physical properties of biological membranes, molecular transport, ion channels, and membrane organization.- Cellular Biophysics:
the investigation of the physical processes governing cellular function, organization, movement, and communication.- Biomechanics:
the study of forces, motion, and mechanical properties of cells, tissues, and organisms.- Systems Biophysics and Active Matter:
the analysis of collective phenomena, self-organization, dynamics, and emergent behavior in biological systems.- Computational and Theoretical Biophysics:
uses physical principles, mathematical models, and computational methods to understand and predict biological phenomena across multiple scales. It includes biomolecular dynamics, molecular interactions, cellular processes, complex systems, and nonequilibrium phenomena.* 16% TAX is charged if you need to Bill/Invoice ($500 MXN + $80 MXN)
